Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
For the Ground Beef and Gravy:
- 1 lb. Lean ground beef
- 1 Small yellow onion diced
- 2 Cloves of minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp. All-purpose flour
- 2 C. Beef broth
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp. Onion powder
- ½ tsp. Garlic powder
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ½ tsp. Black pepper
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 lbs. Yukon gold or russet potatoes
- 4 Tbsp. Butter softened to room temperature
- ½ C. Warmed milk
- ½ tsp. Salt or to taste

Peel and cube the potatoes.

Place the potatoes into a large pot, and cover fully with water.

Bring the potatoes to a boil, and then remove the lid to allow them to cook at a rolling boil until fork tender.

Drain the water from the mashed potatoes, and add in the butter, milk and salt. Mash the potatoes until they are creamy, fluffy and free of lumps.

While the potatoes are cooking, add the ground beef and onions to a skillet over medium heat.

Saute and stir until the beef is completely browned and the onions are tender.

Stir in the garlic, and saute for 30 seconds.

Mix in the flour, and cook stirring often until for at least one minute.

Pour in the beef broth, and whisk continuously until the flour is well incorporated.

Add in the worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and salt and pepper.

Continue to simmer the gravy until it thickens and comes to your desired consistency.

Serve the beef and gravy ladled over a healthy serving of the fluffy mashed potatoes.
