Kate Middleton hid her “planned” abdominal surgery from loved ones, royal source says
Kate Middleton is still at The London Clinic recovering from her abdominal surgery. Soon, she will finally reunite with her family at Windsor and begin her month of recovery as Kensington Palace says she won’t be back on royal duty until after Easter.
There have yet to be any official updates on how the Princess of Wales is doing. But now, luckily, a royal source says that she is doing great.
The news about Kate Middleton’s surgery was a shock to many. But also, a new report states that Kate hid it from people close to her.
Soon, Kate Middleton will finally return home after her surgery. She has remained at the private London Clinic since last week and will not take on any royal duties before Easter.
While Kate is recovering, Prince William will reduce his public engagements. This is to help better care for the couple’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Exactly when Kate Middleton will leave The London Clinic for Windsor is unknown. In the statement released last week, Kensington Palace said that the princess was to stay for nine to 14 days.
New update on Kate Middleton – royal source says she’s doing “great”
But the fact that Kate might stay for two weeks has left royal expert and author Angela Levin concerned. Speaking with GB News, she said it’s “unusual” to stay for 14 days, especially considering it’s the Princess of Wales.
“If at home you’ve got all the comfort that you could have with someone coming in and looking after you,” Levin said. “She could have nurses galore, and the children could see their mother. But she is there for 14 days, and they seem very firm that she won’t be doing anything until around Easter, which is a very long time.”
“I think that’s the most scary thing about it. She works so hard and tries so hard that I think it’s very concerning that she’s there. She’s not the sort of woman who wants to stay in a hospital.”
While Angela Levin is concerned that Kate Middleton might stay at the hospital for two whole weeks, a royal source now tells People Magazine that she is doing great.
“It does sound serious with the length of time [she’s taking]. But she is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home and is a fit young woman. I am sure she will bounce back,” the source said.
“It is sensible to take the time. That is a great example to the rest of us, as you’re often told to get back to work as soon as possible, which can be damaging. It is good for all of us to see her taking the time, recovering properly and then coming back. We can all learn from that.”
What Kate Middleton’s surgery will mean for the royal family moving ahead is yet to be seen. As the number of working royals has deteriorated in later years, it could be challenging for them to take on all planned royal engagements simply because some might not be able to.
William & Kate has a busy year ahead
Previously, it’s been reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton were set to take on even more responsibilities this year. Things could change depending on how the recovery period following the surgery turns out.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been expected to carry out more royal engagements to support King Charles and Queen Camilla, not least because of the king and queen’s overseas trips. Also, depending on how long King Charles has to rest following his treatment for an enlarged prostate, plans could change quickly.
In October, King Charles and Camilla will visit Samoa for the Commonwealth’s Heads of Government Meeting and later stop at Australia and possibly New Zealand. The visit to Australia will be the first trip by a reigning monarch since 2011.
Still, with the increasing number of engagements, there have been rumors about Princess Kate possibly carrying out a solo tour overseas.
Kate Middleton has become one of the most popular royals, and it appears the same goes for what her family members think of her. She has carried out royal duties for over a decade, and King Charles is said to “adore” his daughter-in-law. Therefore, he is reportedly keen on recognizing her contribution in public. According to the Daily Mail, the king could give Kate the greatest of honors to show his appreciation.
There is much chatter in royal circles that King Charles might even seal his daughter-in-law’s new position in the near future by appointing her as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter,” the Daily Mail reported.
Kate was branded “lazy” by the media
Kate Middleton has become a dedicated member of the royal family, taking on many royal duties and having her own causes close to her heart. However, when she and William began dating, the British tabloids had another opinion about her.
When Prince William and Kate met at St. Andrews University and fell in love, it didn’t take long before the newspapers were all over her. While she had nothing to hide, it didn’t stop the newspapers from coming after her in the most cruel way possible.
Despite hailing from a middle-class background – with her parents making millions via a party supply company they owned – Kate was labeled “a commoner.”
Indeed, before she and William announced their engagement, Kate was nicknamed “Waity Katie” and “Lazy Katie” because Middleton had recently quit her job to “prepare for her future life.”
Still, Kate Middleton did not care what was written about her. Behind closed doors, William did his best to prepare his then-girlfriend for what happened when being within the royal sphere.
In private, William is said to have extensively helped Kate prepare for life as a royal, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.
“It was very sensible in the circumstances for Kate and William to get to know each other over the length of time that they felt appropriate. But it can be hurtful seeing those headlines and obviously very stressful,” he said.
The tabloids might have called Kate “lazy” years ago, and some months ago, royal author Omid Scobie, known to be somewhat of a friend to Harry and Meghan, gave her the same name.
Kate Middleton reportedly works from hospital bed – expert says she’s behaved “impeccably”
While Kate won’t return to work before Easter, she is reportedly still doing royal work from her hospital bed. Royal expert Kinsey Schofield spoke with the Express about the princess’ busy schedule, stating that she is very far from lazy.
“The Princess of Wales is a mother to three young children. She is used to bouncing from school activities to errands to clocking in her hours for official royal duties,” Schofield said. “Any work Catherine does during recovery will be a sincere effort by the Princess to stay invested and contribute to causes that she is passionate about.”
The royal expert added, “Catherine has behaved so impeccably over the last several years while facing ludicrous accusations. There are few people on the planet that would respond with the grace and strength that we’ve seen from the Princess of Wales.”
Just an hour after information about Kate’s surgery was made public, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles was to go through with treatment for an enlarged prostate. The Palace had informed senior members of the royal family before the announcement.
However, the statement was put out “relatively quickly” as King Charles had to postpone several engagements.
Therefore, there was little chance that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got to hear the news directly from the royals – but, instead, through the news (likely due to the time difference between the US and England).
Kate Middleton hid her planned surgery from people close to the royal family, report
Despite the ongoing feud, a source told the Mirror that Harry and Meghan sent “get well messages” to Kate Middleton and King Charles amid their respective health scares.
“The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health,” the source said, adding that the couple have “contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes.”
Kate’s family, including her parents, siblings, and the senior royals, were undoubtedly aware of her surgery before the statement was made public. However, now, it appears that some people close to her didn’t know anything at all and were as shocked as the rest of the world.
According to People Magazine, the news of her hospitalization was a complete surprise for those working closely with the royals and even relatives and friends within William and Kate’s broader circle. She hid that something was up.
After Christmas, the Prince and Princess of Wales caught up with friends at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk before having a private birthday celebration on January 9.
Within their broader circle of friends, when they were at Anmer Hall, no indication showed that anything was wrong with Kate.
“The carefully guarded news about Kate’s situation came as a surprise even to those who work closely with the royal family,” People reported.
