Impossible Taco Pie

Ingredients
- For the filling:
- 1 lb 450 g ground beef
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 packet or 2 tbsp taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup 120 ml water
- 1/2 cup 120 ml salsa (mild or medium)
- 1 cup 100 g shredded cheddar cheese
- For the batter magic layer:
- 1/2 cup 65 g all-purpose flour
- 1 cup 240 ml milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Optional toppings after baking:
- Sour cream
- Chopped lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Sliced olives
- Green onions
Instructions

Cook the filling

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.

Add garlic, taco seasoning, and water. Stir well and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened. Mix in the salsa and remove from heat.

Assemble the base

Lightly grease a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish. Spread the meat mixture evenly across the bottom.

Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top.

Make the batter

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, salt, and pepper until smooth and lump-free.

Pour the batter evenly over the meat and cheese layers.

Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.

Rest & serve

Let the pie rest for about 5–10 minutes before slicing. This helps it firm up.

Serve warm with your favorite toppings like sour cream, lettuce, or tomatoes.
